2003 Conference Videos: David Brooks

Dr. David B. Brooks' main interests lie in the linkages between environmental protection, on the one hand, and the use of minerals, energy and water, on the other, as well as with options for moving toward sustainable development. Formerly the founding director of the Canadian Office of Energy Conservation, he subsequently worked for six years with two Canadian NGOs, Energy Probe and Friends of the Earth.

Dr. Brooks was educated in geology at MIT (SB 1955) and Cal Tech (MS 1956), and in economics at the University of Colorado (PhD 1963). He has worked in the United States and several developing countries as well as in Canada. Much of his research has focused on "soft" alternatives for conventional energy and water policies. More recently, he has focused his research on problems in the Middle East, and particularly in Israel and Palestine.
