2003 Conference Videos: Kelly Thambimuthu

Kelly Thambimuthu is the TD Canada Trust Walter Bean Visiting Professor in the Environment at the University of Waterloo. In his normal employment he is a Senior Scientist with the CANMET Energy Technology Centre, Natural Resources Canada. At CANMET, Kelly is responsible for R&D on advanced fossil energy utilisation cycles and is an adviser on greenhouse gas management and CO2 abatement technologies to the Government of Canada. In the international arena, he is the Chairman of the IEA Greenhouse Gas R&D Programme, the leading group within the International Energy Agency/Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development (IEA/OECD) evaluating options to achieve deep reductions in greenhouse gas emissions from fossil energy use. He is also a member of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) programme committee that was recently formed to evaluate CO2 Capture and Storage as a climate change mitigation option. Kelly holds several degrees at the batchelor's, master's and doctorate levels in chemical engineering.
